Sunflyer has a very robust & solid construction, with low Freeboard & plenty of
headroom down below, giving very comfortable sailing.
Cockpit: The generous & spacious aft cockpit is very comfortable, is open to the breeze
& protected on the sides by Spray Dodgers. Plenty of room for 4 people while sailing &
can comfortably sleep 2 or 3 while at anchor.
There are 2 large cockpit lockers, at the aft end of Port & Stb seats (Port side stores the
Emergency Tiller & the Manual Bilge Pump & the Gas Shut Off Valve). Seating behind
the helm can easily carry 2x 10liter petrol cans for Outboard engine. The cockpit has 7
winches, 2x Primaries (Barlow28), 2x Secondaries (Barlow24), 2x Mizzen sheet
winches, 1x Main sheet winch. In each side of the cockpit there are 2 small Portholes
providing extra ventilation to the Quarter Berths.
Aft of the Cockpit is a small aftdeck with a deckbox as Gas locker & underneath is a
large Lazarette. Just behind the steering seat is the deck stepped Mizzen mast with 1x
Lewmar24 winch. The cockpit has a beautifully varnished Teak surround, acting as
backrest while seating & further protection from wash on deck.
Forward of the cockpit is the coachtop with a central access to the Aft Cabin/ Nav
station, & an offset Companionway Entrance slightly forward on the Port side. Both
have sliding top hatches & washboards.
On top of the Coach Roof are 3 chocks for storing the hard Dinghy while sailing & 2
large opening hatches, allowing for good ventilation downstairs. There are also 4
Dorade boxes (although only aft 2 have Dorades on, fwd 2 are capped off) & attachment
points for the valise liferaft under a canvass cover. The Main Mast is also stepped on the
Coach Roof & has 3 Lewmar24 & 1 Lewmar40 winches. The Main Boom also has a
small Reefing Winch on its Port side.
The Port side deck has the Spinnaker Pole stowage, & the Foredeck has the Windlass &
Anchor Chocks (for stowing the anchor while sailing, keeping the lines of the boat
beautiful). The decks are surrounded by a beautifully varnished cap rail which also has
the Genoa Track cars attached to it.
Entering the interior down the Offset Portside Companionway, the steps contain
lockers for such items as winch handles, blocks, grease cans, flares, etc. The bottom of
the steps opens to the Port side Galley, with ample storage outboard & under the
counter. Outboard of the steps is a storage locker, forward of this is a worktop &
forward of this the 4 Burner Cooker/ Oven. Forward of this is the sink with easily
accessible Seacock underneath. On the Forward Bulkhead is an aft facing Fan. Above
4
the sink is a white strip light & a red LED light. On the Deckhead is another light.
Outboard of the cooker is the Cigarette Lighter electric power point, & the Gas Shut Off
Solenoid (no longer working & disconnected).
On the Starboard side is the Main Salon area with Bookshelves outboard ample storage
under the seating & the fridge is located inside the Salon Table. On the Fore & Aft
Bulheads are mounted Fans & Lights (the aft one being red) as well as 2 reading lights,
with another light on the Deckhead. In the Bookshelves are 4 USB charger outlets. In
the Coachroof, over the table is a large opening hatch giving great ventilation to this
area. On the Forward Bulkhead the Fire Blanket & one Fire Extinguisher are mounted.
Forward of the Salon is the Forward Cabin with a large V-Berth with large storage
underneath, & full length shelves running along outboard. On the Port side (aft of the
bunk), behind the door is the Hanging Locker for clothes. On the Starboard side (aft of
the bunk), are 2 storage lockers with a small desk like area for your wallets, phones, etc.
forward of the V-Berth is the Anchor Locker, below & storage is above. In the
Coachroof overhead is a large hatch, & on the Starboard side is an opening Porthole,
both of which give great ventilation while at anchor. At the forward end of the bunk is a
Fan, under the Deckhead is a Light & on the aft bulkhead is a red LED light.
Aft of the Salon, under the Companionway Stairs are 2 large useful tool draws.
Opposite the Stairs is the large Heads with the Lavac Toilet, Shower & Sink. Below the
sink is a locker with good access to the Seacocks. Above & outboard are 2 good sized
storage lockers. Access is from 2 doors, one in the Alleyway & another leading to the
Aftcabin. There is an opening Porthole giving good ventilation while at anchor & one of
the Dorades for ventilation while sailing. On the Deckhead are both white & red LED
lights.
Aft of the Heads is the Aft Cabin with 2 Quarter Berths running down each side, under
the Cockpit seating. These are approx 2m length & are very comfortable berths, with a
small Porthole to the cockpit at the foot of each berth. Under these are situated the
Batteries, the Inverter/Charger & ample storage space. Above & outboard are 2 shelves
running the full length of the bunks, with beautifully carved fiddles. Each Bunk has a
Fan & a Reading Light & a Fire extinguisher. Opposite the Heads entrance, on the Port
side is a Deep Hanging Locker, with shelves outboard, & is where the 110v Inverter is
located, & above which is the Barometer. Between the Bunks is the Engine Area, which
is accessed with a large removable door at the forward end & provides spacious access
to all around the engine. Above the Engine is the Aft Facing Chart Table. This is a
generous size with a pull out draw for charts above the engine. Aft of the Chart Table is
the Electrical Panel. On the Starboard side of the cabin there is a Bookshelf for Boat
Manuals & Sailing Directions. On the Port side is the Binnocular box, both easily
accessed through the Communication Hatch to the cockpit.
